Eastleighwood, commonly Known as “Small Hollywood in Kenya” has 4 Main Production Pillars ( 1. Film & Vid-Digital adverts, 2. Creative Art & Digital Content Productions,3. Somali Traditional Music Productions and 4. Somali Fashion & Modeling-Cultural Shows), which takes a Community-Participatory, approach in all its design. As a Non-for-Profit Organization, Eastleighwood has been implementing strategies to curb terrorist/violent extremist activities and promotion of both health and economic resilience. Eastleighwood uses both Mainstream media and Social media tools for advocacy and education of communities and over the past 8 years, we have produced creative contents including Movies, Short Video films, Visual arts, Newsletters, TV series, Tv talk shows, short documentaries, Short plays, Somali traditional Music and youth peace forum series. In Our Production Program, we use our production content as a medium that enables us to explore our rich cultural heritage for education, entertainment and reflection covering the Somali dominated spots in the Country. Through its determination to reduce cases of youth violence, tribal profiling, Violence against women and girls (GBV), in Eastleigh and other Somalia dominated areas, Eastleighwood attracted local and international media including K24, KTN Home, GBS T.V channel, DW Aljazeera, Voice of Africa (VOA), BBC and print media including Daily Nation, Taifa Leo and The Nairobians through designing and implementing youth-focused programs e.g. Fashion & Modeling, Film and video production, which, according to Somalia Culture is a bit strange but enhanced massive community support(Cultural days and community exhibitions), development, production, trainings and dissemination of media Contents on art & Culture, Fashion & Modeling, Youth Education and empowerment for social change, not only in Nairobi and Garissa Counties but also to the rest of Kenya.
